Philips Heartstart FRx Defibrillator SMART Pads II
These pre-connected Philips SMART pads are packaged in a semi-rigid pads case for added protection, and are equipped with a HeartStart-compatible plug for easy hand-off to Philips ALS defibrillators and to competitive defibrillators with adapters.Â
The Philips FRx Infant/Child Key converts the FRx into a pediatric defibrillator. You can use the same SMART Pads II for infants, adults, and children with this product which eliminates the need to order and keep track of multiple types of electrode pads for various age groups.Â
Philips AED pads must be replaced after use or once every 2 years regardless of use. An expiration date is marked on the front of the pads cartridge.
Compatibility with other Philips AEDs
This product is compatible with most of the Philips line of AEDs. We recommend purchasing device-specific electrode pads for the Forerunner and FR2 AEDs, as well as for all ALS defibrillators, to ensure optimal compatibility and performance. Please note that SMART Pads II are not compatible with the HeartStart OnSite (HS1) or Forerunner AEDs.

How to Replace Your Philips HeartStart FRx SMART Pads II
- Open the protective case of the Philips HeartStart FRx AED and remove the electrode pads cartridge. Ensure the pads are undamaged and ready for use.
- For adult use, no key is needed; however, if using on a child or infant, insert the Infant/Child Key into the AED to adjust the energy levels accordingly.
- Ensure the person’s chest is bare and dry. Remove any clothing and wipe the chest area if necessary to provide a clean surface for pad attachment.
- Peel the backing off the pads and apply one pad on the upper right side of the chest, just below the collarbone, and the other pad on the lower left side, under the armpit.
- If the pads are not pre-connected, plug the connector into the AED. The device will confirm proper connection and begin analyzing the heart rhythm.
